John W. Kile, 74, route 3, Thorp, Clark County, Wis., died at St. Joseph's Hospital here last night as the result of injuries suffered in the day when he was trampled by heifers.
Clark County Coroner Robert Lulloff reported today that Kile sustained sever head, chest and internal injuries after being knocked down by a 250-pound calf in a stall at the Mattes Livestock Market near Thorp, where Kile was employed part time.
Kile was taken to Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley and then transferred to St. Joseph's, where he died at 8:45 p.m.

Kile, John W. (4 Jul 1898 – 27 Dec 1972)
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 30 at 2 p.m. from St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Thorp for John W. Kile, 74, route 3, Thorp, who died
December 27, 1972 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
The Reverend Robert Olson officiated at this service, with burial at
Butlerville Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were his son, Elvin, David, Lyle, Kenneth and Dan,
and grandson Arlen Blum. Honorary pallbearers were John Bizak, Ray Collins,
Victor Kuehl, Wallace Kuehl, Phillips Mattes and Glenn Tieman.
Mr. Kile was born July 4, 1898 at Mt. Tabor, Wisconsin and moved to Butler
Township Clark County, in 1908. He was married to Alma B. Butler at Thorp in
1918 and farmed in the Town of Butler, retiring from active farming in 1960.
He was active in community affairs, serving as Town Chairman and Treasurer a
number of years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Thorp.
Surviving are his wife, Alma, two daughters, Mrs. Walsh Blum (June) of
Wenatchee, Washington, Mrs. Gerald Dietsche (Alma) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
and six sons, Elvin, Owen, David, Thorp, Lawrence, Pateros, Washington,
Lyle, Cashmere Washington, Kenneth, Thorp, Dean, John Day, Oregon, and
twenty three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Other survivors are his sisters: Mrs. Hugo Kuehl (Hattie), Mrs. Bernard
Winterer (Flora, Mrs. Harold Hunt (Francis), Mrs. Norman Skrisvog (Esther),
Mrs. Leroy Markee (Daisy), a half-brother, James, and a host of friends and
other relatives.
