Fenske Charles C. L. (1886-1943)

Charles C. L. Fenske, 57, died at his home in Chili at 1:15 p.m. Thursday after an illness of several years. He lived on his farm near here until April first, when he moved to his home here. He has been a lifelong resident of this community. He was married to Elva Berg in Fremont township on April 29, 1909.

He is survived by his widow and a sister, Mrs. Herman Montag of Chili, two brothers, Richard of Chili, and Gust of Ripon.

Funeral services were conducted at the Fenski home at 1:30 p.m. and at the Zion Lutheran church at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20.

Behind her, from right to left:  Hattie Berg (Mrs. Arthur Berg), Uncle Charlie, Lottie Berg, Elva (Berg) Fenske, Pearl Berg, unknown male cousin.  The photo was probably taken in the late 1930's because Amelia passed away in 1940. Melissa Guensler

Notes

Charles Fenske was married to Elva, one of my grandmother's sisters. Grandma was Annette Claire Berg, born May 27, 1892 in Fremont, Clark, Wisconsin, the daughter of C.C. and Amelia Berg. I'm sending along a photo of great-grandma Amelia when she was in her 80's. From right to left: Hattie Berg (Mrs. Arthur Berg), Uncle Charlie, Lottie Berg, Elva (Berg) Fenske, Pearl Berg, unknown male cousin. The photo was probably taken in the late 1930's because Amelia passed away in 1940.  Melissa Guensler
