Alberta M. Kohl

Alberta M. Kohl, 79, of Marshfield died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, at the Hewitt House where she had lived since August 2003.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Doug Seubert will be the organist, along with John F. Binder and James W. Eckes as the vocalists. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Visitations will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home and again from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. There will be a combined rosary service with the parish and Parish Council of Catholic Women at 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Alberta was born Oct. 12, 1925, to Leo and Mary (Binder) Degenhardt in Clark County. She graduated from Loyal High School in 1943.

Walter E. Kohl Jr. and she were united in marriage on Sept. 13, 1947, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 13, 1997, and their 55th wedding anniversary in 2002.

Alberta was employed by Weinbrenner Shoe Factory from 1943 to 1950 and the Marshfield Canning Company for seven years. For more than 16 years, she worked at the Marshfield Center as a nursing assistant, retiring in 1988. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and its Parish Council of Catholic Women Society.

She was a gentle, kind and hard-working person who cherished her family and the time they spent together.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan (Thomas) Baldischwiler of Stevens Point and their children, Amanda and Libby; Carol Curtin of Marshfield and her children, Ashley and Jarred; and four sons, Thomas Kohl of Marshfield and his children, Tom, Danielle and Dustin; Gerald Kohl of Marshfield and his children, Tiffany, Stephanie and Jessica; James Kohl of Marshfield and his son, Andy; Robert (Lynette) Kohl of Granton and their daughter, Heather and her daughter, Jordann.

She is further survived by four sisters, Madeline Bell, Rosie (Bob) Gregorich and Dorothy (Don) Rottscheit, all of Marshfield and Barb (John) Lynskey of Minneapolis; three brothers, Paul (Elaine) Degenhardt of Marshfield, Norbert Degenhardt of Phillips and Lawrence (Vivian) Degenhardt of Ft. Meyers, Fla.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Walter.

Alberta's family would like to thank Home Hospice for their support and extend a special "thank you" to Deb, Pam and the staff at the Hewitt House for their love and care. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
