25th Anniversary (Mr. & Mrs. Peter Rand, August 25, 1915)
Mr. & Mrs. Peter Rand were honor guests at a party given Saturday night at the Fremont Town Hall, on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Rand who was born in Denmark, came to America in 1906. Mrs. Rand was born in Hampshire, Ill.
Miss Mabel Bayer and Peter Rand were married Aug. 25, 1915, at the Bayer home at Hampshire, Ill. The Rev. Mr. Hoffer officiated. Their attendants were Mr. and Mrs. John Wimpelberg, now of Elgin, Ill.
For nine years after their marriage the Rands lived on a farm in Illinois. They came in 1924 to the Town of Fremont in Clark County and now own a farm in the northeastern part of town. Mr. Rand is president of the Chili Cooperative Milk Pool.
Mr. and Mrs. Rand have two daughters: Laura, who is Mrs. Steve Kapicak of Chicago, and Harriet, now Mrs. Thomas Bayles of Cleveland, Ohio, and one son, Milton Rand of Marshfield.
At the celebration a mock wedding was performed. Mrs. Rand wore the same gown she wore at her wedding 25 years ago--beige lace over satin, and she carried an arm bouquet of garden flowers. The same bridesmaid and best man who attended them in 1915 acted as attendants at the mock ceremony. Gloria Bayer of Chicago was the flower girl, and E. W. Lee read the mock marriage service.
The remainder of the evening was spent in dancing. Mr.and Mrs. Rand received monetary gift from their friends, and 38 silver dollars from their relatives in Chicago and Elgin.
Among those from away who attended the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. John Wimpelberg and two daughters, Elgin, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. George Bayer, daughters Gloria and Arlene and son, Roger, Mrs. and Mrs. Steve Kapicak and Mrs. Margaret Bayer, all of (rest of copy cut off)
