JAN 1850 - 13 Jul 1923) Mr. Jens Hanson
died at his home at Abbotsford, Friday, July 13, 1923, at the age
of 73 years, 5 months and 28 days. He was ill only a week and had
worked his own farm until three weeks previous to his death. The funeral
services were conducted at the Presbyterian Church at Abbotsford,
Rev. Lucas of Colby, officiating, and interment took place at the
Dorchester Baptist Cemetery. The pallbearers were J. P. Olson, Aug.
Strebe, A. J. Calkins, J. A. Olson, Charles Carlson and Oscar
Phaneuf. Jens Hanson was
born in Christiana, Norway, Jan. 15, 1850. In 1880 he came to
America and settled in Marseilles, Ill. In 1882 he was united in
marriage to Mary Anderson. Six children were born to them, three of
whom died in infancy, and Charles died in France in 1918. In 1885 he united
with the Baptist Church and from then on had always been a true
Christian. In 1898 he and his
family moved to Dorchester, Clark County, and in 1911 they moved to
Abbotsford where they resided at the time of his death. Besides his wife,
he leaves his two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Berry and Bessie, and three
