Nixdorf, Adell (9 SEP 1849 - 19 Augl 1923)

Mrs. Ernest Nixdorf died at her home on the old farm two miles south and one mile west of the village, now the farm of her son Gustave, on Sunday, Aug. 19, 1923, of paralysis, at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 10 days. She has been ill for the past two years and last winter suffered a stroke of paralysis, from which she so far recovered as to be able to walk. About ten days prior to her death she was again taken ill and became helpless and gradually grew weaker.

Funeral services were held last week Thursday from the St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Rev. V. M. Keiper officiating and interment took place on the cemetery south of the village. G. F. Schmidt, Fred Plockelman, Carl Brecklin, Fred Laack, John Bremer and Fred Daenicke, all old settlers in Dorchester Country, acted as the pallbearers.

In 1880 they came to Dorchester, Clark County and purchase a farm southwest of the village, but after a few months stay and on account of the injury to Mr. Nixdorf's eye they returned to Milwaukee. After residing there for seven years they returned again tot he farm where they have since lived. In 1906 the farm was sold to their son Gustave who erected a home for them on it near his own.

Seven children were born to them, three of who preceded the mother into the realms beyond. Four sons, Gustave and Albert of Dorchester, Ernest of Milwaukee, and John of Chicago, with their father survive her. Besides these one brother, one sister, twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild are left to mourn her loss.

Relatives from out of town who were present at the funeral were E. T. Nixdorf, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. John Nixdorf, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wurdel, St. Paul; Mrs. E. Wurdel, Hutchinson, Minn., and Carl Lockstedt, Milwaukee.

The Clarion joins with the many friends in offering the hand of sympathy and fellowship.
