12/21/1923 Nixdorf, Ernest
(30 Dec 1841 - 18 Dec 1923) Ernest Nixdorf
died at his home, southwest of the village, Tuesday morning after a
two day's illness at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 18 days.
Funeral services were held this afternoon from the St. Petri
Church, Rev. V. M. Keiper officiating. Mr. Nixdorf was
born in Wreschen, Prussia, on Dec. 30th, 1841 and came to the
United States in March 1872, locating in Milwaukee. The following
year he was united in marriage to Adelhaid Wudel and in 1880 came
to Dorchester where with the exception of a few years he has lived
ever since. He leaves to mourn his loss, four sons, Gustav and
Albert of Dorchester, Ernest of Milwaukee, and John of Chicago, and
a sister, Mrs. Lockstead of Milwaukee. Response by Dan
Rusch-Fischer I know the elder Nixdorf was
buried on the family farm and later moved to the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
As a kid, I remember there used to be a headstone in the Nixdorf front yard, but
since then the family removed it and tossed it into a well that was being filled
in, as the body had long since been moved. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
