02/08/1924 Schneider,
Mr./Mrs. M. (Gold - 1 Feb 1924) Mr. and Mrs.
Schneider celebrated their golden wedding last Sunday in a very
fitting manner. The affair, which
was a surprise to the couple, had bee carefully planned beforehand
and everything was in ship shape. Their pastor, Rev.
V. M. Kieper, spoke feelingly from the text found in Psalms 116:
12, after which the golden wedding ceremony was performed, which in
turn was followed by a very bounteous dinner served to all
present. Mr. and Mrs.
Schneider were both born in Russia-Poland and they were married
there in the village of Rodam, Feb. 1st, 1874, by Rev. Otto
Wistehube. Churches were far away and they were obliged to drive
ten Russian miles, its equivalent here would be fifty miles. The
trip was long and took all night as travel wasn't as swift as now,
but it was finally accomplished and they were happily married. Three children
were born to the, William of Medford, Mrs. J. Bremer of Dorchester,
and one son who died in Russia at the age of nine years. Besides
these children they now have eight grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren. Mrs. Schneider also has three brothers and one
sister living. They came to the
United States in 1893 and settled near Gillett, Wis. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
