CLARION (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) 09/12/1924 Leichtnam, Galen
(8 Apr 1915 - 8 Sep 1924) Galen Leichtnam,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Leichtnam, passed away at their farm
home southwest of the village (Dorchester, Clark County, Wis.),
Monday morning, Sept. 8th, 1924, at the age of 9 years and 5
months, of leakage of the heart. Funeral services
were held yesterday afternoon from the Little White Church, Rev. E.
W. Marks officiating and interment was made in the Union Cemetery,
his six cousins, Wesley Schmidt of Rib Lake, Alfred, Galen and
Vernon of Milan, Ronald and Alfond Herman, acting as
pallbearers. Galen was born
April 8, 1915, at the farm home and is the grandson of our Village
President, G. F. Schmidt and wife. He was a bright, friendly little
fellow, well liked by all who knew him and thought he has been ill
since before Christmas, when he was taken with a very severe attack
of inflammatory rheumatism, he was patient and cheery as the end
came for he faced it bravely and knowingly.. We are reminded of the
words: "And he wrapped the drapery of his couch about him and laid
down to pleasant dreams." Though young in
years, he was old in though and very grateful to all who
contributed to his comfort. We will al be a
little better for having known him and God, in His infinite wisdom,
has called him up higher where pain and sorrow never come. We shall
meet, but we shall miss him. There will be a
vacant chair; We shall linger to
caress him, When we breathe
our evening prayer. He leaves his
father and mohter, brother Archie, grandparents and various other
relatives to mourn him. The Clarion and
their host of friends extend to the sorrowing ones the hand of
sympathy in their dark hour. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
