Lees, Kate (14 SEP 1878 - 24 Augl 1924)

Word was received here the first of the week of the death of Mrs. Kate Lees at the Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, Aug. 24th, 1924.

Kate Oberbillig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Oberbillig, was born Sept. 14, 1878 and was forty-five years, eleven months and ten days at the time of death.

Whether Kate was born on the farm a mile north of town (now owned by Mr. Tischendorf) where Matt Oberbilligs lived some forty years, or came there as a tiny infant, we were unable to find out, but she spent her childhood days there, later moving into the village.

About twenty-five years ago she left Dorchester, Clark County and has only been back on a fleeting visit. Since her marriage she has lived in the Twin Cities, where she died.

Her parents are both dead and two brothers, John Oberbillig of Boise, Idaho, Henry Oberbillig of Pine River, Minn., and one sister, Mrs. Anna Collier of Berkeley, Calif., are left to morn her loss.

The Clarion join the Dorchester friends in offering sympathy.

Recently ran across this while researching my genealogy. Kate (Catharina) is the younger sister of my grandfather, John James Oberbillig a long time Idaho resident, who made his career in Mining. John was born 24 Dec 1879, in Appleton, WIsconsin, died on a business trip in San Francisco on 05 Jan 1958, and was returned to Boise, Idaho for burial the following week.
