Benzman, Ervin (? - Dec 1924)

An entire community, including many persons from other places, assembled her Friday afternoon, Dec. 5, to pay their last respect to Ervin, beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Benzman. The funeral was the largest ever held at Milan. Only half the people present were able to get inside the church.

All business places were closed during the services. The floral offerings were many and beautiful and various bequests amounting to $27.00 were given for mission work in honor of the deceased, all showing the high esteem in which he was held.

The pallbearers were Alfred Schmidt, Frank Haderlein, William Brown, Ernest Schaner, Benno Jurgenson, and Eldred Ellingson. Honorary pallbearers were Herbert Brown of Fort Collins, Colo., Henry Lotzer, Milan, and Arvin Ellingson, Wausau.

Flower bearers were Henrietta Glock, Henrietta Zell, Elsie Denziu, Minnie Westphal, Arnold Kallien and Galen Schmidt. Both pallbearers and flower bearers were either schoolmates or members of the Milan Band, of which Ervin was a member, or very intimate companions. The remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran Cemetery north of Milan.
