CLARION (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) 01/07/1926 Nuernberger, Lena
A. (3 May 1871 - 3 Jan 1926) Mrs. Herman
Nernberger passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 3, at 3:30 o'clock at
her home 1 mile south of Dorchester, Clark County, Wis. after a
long illness at the age of 54 years and 8 months. Funeral services
were held at the Peace Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock,
Rev. Bizer officiating and Arthur Baehr, Anton Schilling, Max
Hoffman Sr., George Koehn, Gus Laack and F. A. Distelhorst acting
as pallbearers. Lena Augusta
Violand was born in Switzerland, May 3, 1871. When she was 20 years
old she in company with a brother came to the United States and
settled in Milwaukee, Oct. ?, 1896 she was married to Herman
Nuernberger at Milwaukee. In 1900 they came
to Dorchester and settled on the farm south of town where she
died. Three children
were born to them, one daughter, Mrs. Helen Meier and two sons,
Herbert, who died 18 years ago and Alfred who is at home with his
father. Mrs. Nernberger
was of the pioneer stock that Dorchester is so proud of and though
she came here later than many, she helped to make a farm home where
wilderness had been. She was a great church worker and was
secretary of the Ladies Aid for 14 years and she was a person one
enjoyed meeting for she was a sure cure for blues with her pleasant
smile and kindliness the world seemed like a new place. Why she is
gone, when she was still in her prime, we know not, but this we
know, the Heavenly Father knoweth best and He will comfort if we
let him. Besides her
husband and 2 children she leaves to mourn her loss, her
son-in-law, George Meier, and 3 grandchildren, 3 brothers and 2
sisters in Switzerland, one brother, Oscar Violand of Milwaukee and
1 sister, Mrs. August Steinke, Grandina, N.D., and 1 nephew here,
Oscar Violand, Jr., besides many other relatives. Those from out of
town here for the obsequies were Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Violand, Mrs.
O. A. Violand and daughter Miss Vine Hayne, Mr. Bruno Betzolt, all
of Milwaukee, Miss Eva Nernberger of Wild Rose and Mr. Charlie
Adams of Colby. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
