GREENWOOD - John Gatz, 85, of Greenwood died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005 at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 4:30 p.m. prayer service, Thursday at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood.

GREENWOOD - John Martin Gatz, 85, of Greenwood died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, at Saint Joseph's Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood. A prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m., both today at the funeral home.

He was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Chicago, the son of John and Mary (Troyk) Gatz. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Chicago and worked for an optometrist. He married Marian Susa on Feb. 16, 1945, in Chicago and she died in April 1975. The couple moved to farm in Greenwood. He also drove school buses for 30 years in the Greenwood School District. He married Irene Schultz on March 19, 1976, in Greenwood.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Gatz, Greenwood; two daughters, Suzanne (Alfred) Bredlau, Neillsville, and Cheryl (Geb) Weizenegger, Fort Wayne, Ind.; son, Robert Gatz, Belvidere, Ill; stepdaughter, Connie Green, Herrin, Ill.; stepson, Gary (Rochelle) Schultz, Almond; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Shirley (Robert) Maronde, Darien.
