A Prosperous Farmer
One of our enterprising farmers, Geo. Durham, was given a good "write up" by the Merrillan Leader a couple of weeks ago. Mr. Durham has made a good success of his work on the farm. He not only has a fine dairy herd on his farm but has an orchard started which is growing into value each year. That this section of the state is adapted to fruit raising goes without a question and quite a large number of other farmers have producing orchards on their farms. Mr. Durham has made his home on this farm for over seventeen years and has made a farm worth $75 an acre out of what was considered by many as worthless cut over pine land. The Leader’s article was illustrated by a half-tone cut of Mr. Durham’s home and farm buildings, which exemplify the thrift and industry of the owner of the place.
