Nuclear freeze not answer
Editor, News-Herald: Why are we spending billions of dollars on nuclear missiles
when they are obsolete?
Trucks can haul tons of explosives right on target for a lot less. Garbage
trucks can haul tons of nuclear bombs covered with garbage. one truckload for
the Kremlin and one for the Pentagon would end the fear gripping the whole
world.
Hopefully, s cold chill will run up the spine of every living person in
Washington or Moscow when they see a garbage truck. It could be the one destined
to wipe out the whole city.
The Pentagon may bury its head in trucked-in sand, but the taillfeathers would
be gone with the wind from a nuclear blast.
Great Britain ruled the seas and the sun never set on the British Empire. Now
they are hanging on to President Reagan's shirttail, fearing to stand alone.
Germany had the whole world shaking in their boots a short time ago. They are
also hanging on to Reagan's shirttail, hoping his nuclear buildup will save the
world. The Pentagon and the Kremlin have painted themselves into a corner, where
their only escape is to abolish all nuclear missiles. A freeze can be defrosted,
so that is not the answer.

According to Follen, the bird is relatively rare in Wisconsin, and it is unusual
that the bird is so far north this time of year.
