Linda Krause, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Krause, Curtiss, graduated August
6, 1976 from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, with a Bachelor of
Science degree in history.
Miss Krause, a 1972 graduate of Abbotsford High School, attended the University
of Wisconsin Center at Medford for two years.
In 1974 she spent a semester abroad in Europe and London, England studying, and
recently returned from a semester abroad in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
While attending Stevens Point she was a member of the Senior Honor Society,
History Club, International Organization and Phi Alpha Theta. She plans to
complete graduate work in history at the University of Minnesota.

Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity, continues its 75th anniversary celebration this
Sunday. The Rev. Charles E. Witt, D. D., Milwaukee, will be guest preacher at
the 9:30 a.m. service. Pastor Witt served Trinity as an interim pastor during
the period from 1950 through 1952. He and his family will be guests at a potluck
smorgasbord in the church basement after the service. The public is welcome at
both of these events.

Pastor and Mrs. Robin Fink celebrated their silver wedding anniversary on
Sunday, with a noon dinner for about 60 relatives and friends.
A personal friend of Pastor Fink, the Reverend Donald Gerlach, Park Falls,
officiated at the 1:30 services, in which the Finks renewed their marriage vows.
Their daughter-in-law’s sang “The 23rd Psalm” and “A Perfect Love,” with Kathy
Schultz as organist.

The annual Apfelbeck – Ohlinger family reunion was held Saturday at Cherokee
Park, with about 40 families attending the potluck dinner and supper.
Guests were from Tomahawk, Wausau, Abbotsford, Colby, Franklin Park, Illinois,
Ells grove Valley, Illinois, Arlington Heights, Illinois, Barrington, Illinois,
Clear Water, Florida, Boyd, Medford, Stetsonville, Mosinee, Charlevoix,
Michigan, Athens, Pittsville and Spencer.
Committee members were John Apfelbeck, Wausau, president, and Karen Apfelbeck,
Abbotsford, secretary-treasurer.

A son was born August 5, 1976 to Mr. and Mrs. David Hoernke. He weighed 6
pounds, 11 ounces and was 19 ½ inches long. They named him Damion David. He
joins twin brothers, Darrin and Derrick, age 4, at home.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hoernke and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hesgard,
Colby; great-grandmother, Mrs. Jennie Waggoner, Janesville, and a
great-grandfather, Herman Hoernke, Marshfield.

The Abbotsford Chapter of Future Farmers of America exhibited 20 animals at the
Wisconsin Valley Fair in Wausau.
John Slipek, Vocation Ag Instructor at Abbotsford, said 20 animals exhibited by
Abbotsford students won seven blue, seven red, four white and two pink ribbons.
Darlene York was selected as having the best fitted animal in her age group.
Steven Prestebak placed second in showmanship for his age group, and Mike Beran
place fifth in the senior division.
Winners were:
- Tom Kiefer - white junior heifer calf, blue – senior heifer calf and blue –
junior yearling heifer.
- Mark Kiefer – two reds for senior heifer calf.
- Mike Beran – red - senior heifer calf, red – junior yearling calf, and red –
senior yearling heifer.
- Cary Beran – red-senior heifer calf and white – junior yearling heifer.
- Walter Schillinger – blue – senior heifer calf.
- Steve Prestebak – pink – senior heifer calf and white – 2 year old cow.
- Rodney Pinter – white – aged cow, pink – senior yearling heifer and white –
senior heifer calf.
- Darlene York – red – senior heifer calf.
- Bryon Broeske – blue – senior yearling heifer and junior champion, red and
white Holstein.
- Mike Schindler – pink – 3 year old cow.

Alois Gabriel, Colby, was named chairman of the Colby Deport project by the
Clark County Historical Society when it met recently, according to Florence
Garbusch, president of the group.
President Garbusch said the society is hoping to develop the old depot site into
a county museum in the future.
During the past weekend work was begun by members of the Abbotsford National
Guard unit at the site.

Mr. and Mrs. John Coates held an open house recently at their home in honor of
their golden wedding anniversary.
About 130 guests took part in this event.
They were from Tomahawk, Plymouth, Sheboygan, Wittenberg, Athens, Abbotsford,
Dorchester, Owen, Tripoli, Phillips, Colby, Unity, Marshfield, Spencer, Curtiss,
Stratford, Milwaukee and Withee.
Music during the afternoon was provided by Mrs. Emil Dallenbach. Lunch and
refreshments were served.
Mr. and Mrs. John Coates were married at the Marshfield Methodist church on
August 5, 1926, with Rev. Ingraham officiating.
Coates was born in Tishigan to Mr. and Mrs. E. Coates. He attended school in
Greenwood. He was a Highway patrolman for 39 years. His hobbies are cone craft
and woodworking.
Irma Heintz was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Heintz of Cherokee. Her
hobbies are lowers, art crafts, sewing and cooking.
