A wedding trip to Florida followed the August 7, 1976 marriage of the former Liz Kaz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kaz, Route 2, Owen, and Jack Bremer, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bremer, 304 Butternut Street, Abbotsford. Upon their return the newlyweds are making their home at Parkwood Apartments, Marshfield.

Paul Laabs, Curtiss, John Kaz, Owen, and Peter Kaz, Abbotsford, seated guests for the 7 p.m. ceremony performed by Pastor K. L. Loehrke at Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford. Mrs. Betty Decker was the organist; Bruce Klocke, vocalist, and Dwight Kramer, guitarist.

As the bride was escorted to the altar by her father, she was seen wearing a traditional wedding gown with matching lace headpiece that secured her fingertip veil. She carried a colonial bouquet of white orchids, baby’s breath and stephanotis.

Kate Kaz, Owen, maid of honor, Carolyn Johnson, Curtiss, Jill Bremer, Abbotsford, and Susie Kaz, Curtiss, bridesmaids, had colonial bouquets of yellow roses, white carnations, and yellow daisies on a background of white lace doilies. They were attired in empire styled floor length gowns of yellow poly-knit and white lace.

Steve Laabs, Curtiss, was best man; Mike Kaz, Owen and David Borgemoen, Curtiss, were groomsmen for the bridegroom.

A reception and dance were held at the Sword, Colby.

The bride is a Dental assistant at Dental Associates, Marshfield. Her husband is employed as a draftsman at Weyerhaeuser.

Debara Dianne Luchterhand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil A. Luchterhand, Unity, spoke her marriage vows with the son of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolf Kuhlmann, Montclair, in the orchard of the bride’s parent’s home. Carl Nelson conducted the 1:30 p.m. ceremony on Sunday, August 15, 1976.

Dr. Elizabeth Kuhlmann, sister of the groom, Phoenix, Arizona, played the cello, and Becky Hinke, Abbotsford, played the piano.

The bride wore a gown of ivory organza with re-embroidered Alencon lace trimming the cuffs of the bishop sleeves, the bodice, and repeated in the hem of the full skirt and chapel length train. A fingertip veil of ivory bridal illusion was gathered to a headpiece of white baby‘s breath and blue statice. She carried a colonial bouquet of pink rosebuds, baby’s breath, statice, and miniature chrysanthemums.

Attending the bride were Jill Russel, Reno, Nevada, maid of honor, Kathrine Beasley, Lansing, Michigan, sister of the bride, and Dr. Susan Kuhlmann.

Eliza Luchterhand, Unity, Fairlight Beasley and Ethan Beasley, Lansing, Michigan, scattered flowers on the lawn as they preceded the bride beneath the trees in the orchard.

The bridal attendants wore long empire fitted dresses of colorfully flowered jersey and carried baskets of white daisies, baby’s breath, and pink carnations.

Standing with the bridegroom were best man, Will Kuhlmann, Columbus, Ohio, brother of the groom; Robert Kurrasch, Madison, and Bruce Luchterhand, Unity, brother of the bride.

After a wedding reception and dinner at the Village Plaza in Spencer, the guests returned to the Luchterhand home for more refreshments and were entertained later in the evening by a shiveree.

Mrs. Kuhlmann is a 1975 graduate of the School of Nursing, University of Wisconsin, Madison, and was formerly employed at Mercy Hospital in Janesville.

Kuhlmann, a 1973 graduate of Yale University, recently completed law studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and is employed at a law firm in Madison.

After their return from a honeymoon trip in the upper peninsula of Michigan, the Kuhlmanns will reside in Madison.

Bio: Roytek, Barney – Calling Auctions After Cancer Cure (1976)

Barney Roytek of Curtiss has called 51 auctions since March, when he was diagnosed as having cancer. He feels an 18-day-trip to Tijuana, Mexico, where he received medical treatment, which included Laetrile injections, a drug not available in the United States, has prolonged his life. The 47-year-old auctioneer called his first sale when he was 14 years old.

“Only one percent of boys that start in scouting get to be an Eagle Scout. It is the highest award a scout can achieve and the Strathmans are seeing a second son achieve this award,” Nyole (Bunk) Creed, Scout unit commissioner, said during the ceremonies honoring Tom Strathman when he was awarded the Eagle Scout Award recently at the First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Strathman, Abbotsford.

Creed explained that in order to become an Eagle Scout one must go through all the ranks of scouting. He said it takes an average of three years preparation bo become an Eagle Scout.

The badge also, according to Cree, signifies understanding the community and nation.

The Strathmans were ushered to the ceremony by their other son, Fred, a former Eagle Scout, as Herman Schultz, Marshfield, Cub Commissioner and leader trainer, presented Tom with the Eagle Award.

Strathman received merit badges for landscape architecture, mammals, nature, oceanography, reading, rowing, soil and water conservation, sports, swimming, wood work, painting, space exploration, athletics, basketry and emergency preparedness.

The new Eagle Scout, a recent graduate of Abbotsford High School, will enter the Navy Nuclear electronics Plan soon. While at home he plans to remain active with the troop as an assistant scoutmaster.

Wedding vows were repeated between Lynn Ridderbush and Daniel Beck recently at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby.

Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ridderbush, Route 1, Abbotsford, and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Beck, Route 2, Colby, are the parents of the couple.

The bride was given in marriage by her father, appeared in a floor length gown of white sheer organza trimmed with Venice lace and pearled beading. Her Venice lace edged veil fell from a Camelot headpiece with matching lace. She carried a cascade of yellow roses and white carnations.

Sherry Ridderbush was maid of honor. Susan Mews and Pamela Ridderbush were bridesmaids. They wore yellow sheer floor length gowns with matching picture hats, and each carried a cascade of white and yellow daisies and baby’s breath.

Best man for the bridegroom was Ricky Beck, and groomsmen were Mark Brecke and Lance Mews.

A reception and dance followed at the Memorial Hall in Dorchester.

The bride graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1974 and North Central Tech in 1975. She is employed at ITT in Thorp.

The bridegroom, a 1970 Colby High graduate and a 1971 North Central Tech graduate, is employed at E and D Manufacturing in Medford.

St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester, was the scene Saturday, August 28, 1976 of the marriage of Cindy Ellenbecker, Route 1, Abbotsford, and Jeff Jicinsky, Route 2, Stratford.

Father Schaefer officiated at the 2 p.m. ceremony for the children of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Ellenbecker, Route 1, Abbotsford, and Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Jicinsky, Route 2, Stratford.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose a princess line gown of sata peau over taffeta, with Victorian style bodice of cluny lace and pearls. The town featured a high ruffled neckline and ruffled flounces of matching lace at the hemline, with a chapel train. Her long laced edge veil was held by a matching Camelot headpiece. She carried a cascade of pink roses and baby’s breath.

Debbie Gruber, Middleton, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. Diane Scheibe, Stetsonville, friend of the bride, was bridesmaid. They wore gowns of blue floral chiffon with cape-like sleeves with a flounced hemline. They wore chiffon hats and carried a parasol decorated with baby’s breath.

Greg Schopen, Jefferson, friend of the bridegroom, was best man. Al Jicinsky, Stratford, brother of the bridegroom, was groomsman.

Completing the wedding party were ushers, Dale Pope, Chippewa Falls, and Gary Jicinsky, Marshfield.

A reception and dinner followed.

The couple are both seniors at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls.

Mrs. Gratz graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire in 1972. She has worked in activity programs at Memorial Home in Neillsville and Thorp Care Center. She enjoys cross county skiing, collecting antiques and Chinese cooking.
