Funeral services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta on Monday, June 28, 2004, with Pastor Greg Buckli officiating. Darwin was a Special Needs teacher at the professional Building in Neillsville.

Darwin is survived by his wife, Roxanne; his son, Nathan (Nicole Brown); his stepson, Chris Martin; step-granddaughter, Nevada Martin: eight siblings, Ralph Smith; Herbert (Dawn) Smith; Bonnie (Chuck) Straube; Arlo (Shirley) Smith; Gladys (Art) Bowen; Nancy (Jim) Breitung; Duane (Carla) Smith; Etta (Bob) Czarnik; a sister-in-law, Voyna Smith; and his father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Phyllis Lane.

Preceding Darwin in death are his parents; two brothers, Everett and Oakley; and two sisters, Marie (Smith) Mueller and Betty Smith.

Condolences are extended to the family of Darwin Smith.
