DELONG-Velva Margret DeLong
Velva M. DeLong, age 80, of Withee, died at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 1986, at Two Rivers Community Hospital. She had been visiting her daughter in Two Rivers ( note: she was living with her son Russel).
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen. Rev Jan Follet, paster of the Seventh Adventist Church in Withee, officiated and burial followed in Riverside Cemetery at Withee.
Grandsons served as pall-bearers.
The former Velva O'Leary was born July 21, 1906 at Humbird, Clark County, to Peter and Emma (Putman) O'Leary. She married Earl DeLong on July 23, 1922 at Humbird. They farmed at Humbird until 1961 when they moved to Owen, where they resided until moving to Withee in 1973. Her husband died January 7, 1976. (note: they lived a few years in Winchester, moved to Two Rivers about 1925 and back to Humbird in 1848).
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Withee.
Survivors include one daughter, Coralee DeLong, Two Rivers; five sons: Ronald, Eagle River; Gerald, Withee(Two Rivers); Russel, Two Rivers; Mark, Sheboygan; and Owen, Cleveland; one sister, Mrs. Jake (Viola) Fitzmaurice, Humbird; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
