VIOLA M FITZMAURICE

Viola Fitzmaurice, age 92, of Neillsville, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at the Memorial Nursing Home in Neillsville.

Viola Mae Fitzmaurice was born on Dec. 19, 1911 in Humbird, the daughter of Peter and Emma (Putman) O'Leary. She graduated from Two Rivers High School in Two Rivers and then attended Technical School there also. She was united in Marriage to Jake Fitzmaurice on Oct. 11, 1931. They farmed until 1954, and then Viola worked at various jobs and factories. Jake died in 1989.

Viola's main enjoyment in life was her family and her grandchildren and she looked after them and cared for them deeply. She also enjoyed fishing and the trips she and her husband would take. She was a long-time member of the Hospital Auxiliary.

Surviving Viola is one daughter, Velva (Jerry) Cernick, of Neillsville; one son, Larry (Sharon) Fitzmaurice, of Neillsville; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Kada Fitzmaurice, of Merrillan. Surviving Viola also are many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Viola in death are her husband, Jake, two sons, one in infancy and LeRoy in 1991; one brother; one sister and her parents.

Funeral services for Viola were held Mon. Oct. 11, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Steven P. Wentz officiated, and Kathy Meshnick organist, with David Skiff soloist provided the music. Interment was in the Mentor Cemetery in Humbird.

Casket bearers were her grandsons; Jerry Cernick, Clayton Hawley, Conrad Kozik, Peter Fitzmaurice, Ken Christian, Doyle Fitzmaurice, John Calkins, and LeRoy Fitzmaurice.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Viola's family with funeral arrangements.
