Halverson, Halver (c. 1836 - 17 Jan 1909)
Mr. Halver Halverson, one of the pioneer residents of Dorchester passed away at his home last Sunday night at the advanced age of seventy-three years. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at the Baptist Church and the remains were followed to the last resting place by a large procession of relatives and friends. He leaves a wife and one son to mourn his death.
Mr. Halverson was a native of Norway. He came to America during the Civil War, and settled at Oconomowoc. In 1880 he came to Clark county and settled on a farm three miles northwest of Dorchester. About two years ago he moved to this village and lived a retired life. He was hale and hearty up to about six months ago when his health began to fail him and gradually kept growing weaker until his death finally came.
Deceased was a devout member of the Baptist Church. He was of a quiet disposition, and always had a good word to speak for his friends, and enemys he knew none.
We join with the sorrowing family in extending them our heartfelt sympathy.
