May, Wilhelmina (25 Oct. 1854 - 4 Nov. 1932)
Mrs. Wilhelmina May for nearly 40 years a resident of Neillsville, passed away on Nov. 4, 1932, at 135 W. 10th Street, Neillsville. Mrs. May, whose maiden name was Wilhelmina Porath, was born in Rogan, Germany, Oct. 25, 1854. There she grew to womanhood and on April 16, 1875 was married to Herman May. They came to America in 1893 and settled near Neillsville. Mr. May died a number of years ago.
Mrs. May was a woman who was highly respected by all who knew her, and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by six children: Anna, Mrs. Wm. Guenther of Wauwatosa; Paul, Dousman, Wis.; Otto, Neillsville; Bertha, Mrs. J. C. Moen, Neillsville; Lena, S. A. Marden, and Max, both of Bellevue, Wash.
She leaves also one brother, Albert Porath, of Granton. The funeral was held at St. John's Lutheran church Nov. 7, Rev. Wm. Baumann officiating. The pall bearers were the grandsons: Walter May, Lester May, Harold May, Herman Moen, Raymond Moen, and Walter Hiser.
Those from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Guenther, Marion and Dorothy, Paul May and son Harold, Mr. De Jarles and daughter Joyce, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schafer of Pewaukee, Wis., all relatives from Granton and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Porath of Owen.
