CLARION (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) 04/09/1926 Maurer, Gwendolyn
(6 Apr 1888 - 3 Apr 1926) Mrs. Herman Mauer
died suddenly Saturday afternoon at Southview Hospital, Milwaukee,
where she had been taken Friday, following complications from
diphtheria, quinsy and jaundice. The funeral was
held Monday from the hospital chapel and was in charge of Rev.
Chas. A. Carriel. Burial was in the Forest Home Cemetery. Mrs. Maurer, nee
Miss Gwendolyn Williams, was born in Indiana, April 6th, 1888, and
for a number of years before her marriage she taught in the schools
at Medford. In June 1913 she was united in marriage to Herman
Maurer, who at that time was cashier of the Dorchester State Bank
here (Dorchester, Clark County, Wis.), and lived with us until four
years ago when the family moved to Milwaukee, as Mr. Maurer had
accepted the cashiership of the Central State Bank of that city.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, two children, Ted and
Bob, her father, two brothers and two sisters. Her mother, who
lived at Kokomo, Ind., and who had been ill for some time, passed
away Sunday, the day following Mrs. Maurer's death. The Milwaukee
Journal says of Mrs. Maurer: "She was widely known in the city for
her social service work and was president of the Children's Home
Auxiliary Society, chairman of the Tripoli Golf Club, the Ladies of
Galilee, and a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church." © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
