(27 May 1825 - 7 Mar 1903) Dennis Hurlburt,
who died March 7, 1903, was born at Westport, Essex Co., N.Y., May
27, 1825. He was married to
Laura McDougal in 1847 and to them were born seven children, of
which there are five living, viz., Lottie Seager of Weston, Mrs.
J.E. Gray of Colby, Mrs. J.W. Lynch of Neillsville, Mrs. A. Gray of
Marshfield and Geo. Hurlburt of Idaho. His first wife
died in 1862. He was married to Mrs. Isabella Crossett, who now
survives him. By the second marriage there were born three
children, of whom there are two now living, Mrs. Ella Poate of
Arcadia, and Wm. Hulburt who lives at their home in the town of
York, Clark County. His aged wife and children, with the exception
of Geo., were at his bedside, also his step-daughter Mrs. L.
Humiston, of York. Deceased came to Neillsville in the spring of
1872, and moved to his farm in York in the fall of 1872, where he
has resided ever since. He was quiet and honest and respected by
all who knew him. The funeral was
held at the Redmond Church Monday, Mar. 9, and was conducted by
Rev. Guy Campbell. The remains were interred in the Neillsville
