JANET M JENNI

Janet M ‘Jan' Jenni, age 67, of Black River Falls and formerly of Neillsville, died unexpectedly on Sat. Oct. 19, 2002, in Black River Memorial Hospital.

The former Janet M Meredith was born on July 11, 1935 in Black River Falls to Maurice and Maybelle (Lightfoot) Meredith. She was raised in Neillsville and graduated from the Neillsville High School.

Jan married Roland Jenni on March 1,1952 in Dubuque, IA. The couple lived in Neillsville until moving to Black River Falls in 1993. Roland and Jan owned and operated Jenni Floral and Garden Center of Neillsville from 1964 to 1976. In 1979, they purchased Ott's Floral of Black River Falls and changed the name to Falls Florist and Garden Center.

In 1993, they sold the Falls Floral and Garden Center to their daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jerry Laatch, but continued to assist with the business. Jan was a member of the Little Norway Lutheran Church of Black River Falls and the Rebecca Circle.

Jan was currently the president of the Skyline Golf Course Ladies Association, of Black River Falls. A talented floral designer, Jan was fond of gardening, golf, bird watching and reading. She also loved living on the Black River.

Surviving Jan is her husband, Roland, of Black River Falls; a daughter, Lisa (Jerry) Laatch, of Black River Falls; a son, Philip (Jane) Jenni of St. Paul, MN; 2 grandchildren, Jesse (special friend, Eliza Waters) Darley and Dusty Darley, both of Madison; a sister, Alice Flitter, of Hudson; a brother, Tom Meredith, of Plano, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wed. Oct. 23, at 1 p.m. from the Evangelical Lutheran Church and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, both in Black River Falls. The Rev. Calvin Thoreson, of Little Norway Lutheran Church, will officiate. Family and friends May call at the church on Wednesday from noon until services.
