Reno W. Goetsch, 88, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, in the palliative care unit at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He worked for Wisconsin Public Service in Wausau for 42 years, retiring in 1978 as administrative assistant.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice Goetsch, Wausau; three daughters, Barbara Stokes, Ashville, N.C., Susan Goetsch, Wausau, and Cindi (Jim) McKee, Mesa, Colo., two sons, Jerry Goetsch, Pine, Ariz., and Kenneth (Kristi) Goetsch, Whitefish, Mont.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wausau. Visitations will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Helke Funeral Home in Wausau and begin again at 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials May be made to Aspirus Wausau Hospital Palliative Care Unit at 333 Pine Ridge Boulevard, Wausau WI 54401.

Reno W. Goetsch
Oct. 18, 1916-Feb. 25, 2005
Reno W. Goetsch, age 88, passed peacefully in his sleep on Feb. 25, 2005, after spending eight days at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Palliative Care (hospice). Eunice, his wife for 65 years, was constantly with him during his final days and hours.
Reno was born in Wausau Oct. 18, 1916, to August and Angela Goetsch. He graduated from Wausau High School in 1934, and married Eunice Asselin of Thorp July 11, 1940. He worked for Wisconsin Public Service in Wausau for 42 years, retiring in 1978 as administrative assistant.
At the age of 14, Reno became a "ham" radio operator, first licensed as W9RQM and then as W9NA. He was known and respected around the world by other "hams," and was honored with many national awards. Throughout his long life, he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, first attending Trinity School and then contributing in many ways to both his church and his community.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice; three daughters, Barbara Stokes of Asheville, N.C., Susan Goetsch of Wausau, and Cindi (Jim) McKee of Mesa, Colo.; two sons, Jerry of Pine, Ariz., and Kenneth (Kristi) of Whitefish, Mont.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church at Fifth and Stewart avenues, Wausau. Visitations will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27 at Helke Funeral Home at Spruce and Third avenues, Wausau, and at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity. The family suggests memorials to Aspirus Wausau Hospital Palliative Care at 333 Pine Ridge Blvd., Wausau WI 54401.
