Mrs. Amelia M. Stigen, 70, route 1, Withee died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, January 14th at Victory Memorial Hospital in Stanley.

Services were on January 17th at l p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Withee. Officiating was the Rev. Douglas R. Groenewold, pastor. Burial was made in the Withee Riverside Cemetery.

Born April 5, 1905, in Milwaukee, the former Amelia Widmer attended the Sterling Grade School near Thorp. After her marriage to Frank Stigen on June 18, 1924, at Withee, the couple farmed in the town of Withee. Mr. Stigen died January 26, 1975.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son, Gene, route 1, Withee; two brothers, Fred Widmer, Withee and John Widmer, Milwaukee and two grandchildren.

Preceding her in death in addition to her husband, were two brothers and a sister.

Pallbearers were: Larry Stigen, James Ewer, Ed Kalo, Jerry Buss, Fred Widmer and Vernon Wegner.

Stigen, Amelia M. (9 Apr 1905 – 14 Jan 1976)

Funeral services for Mrs. Amelia M. Stigen, who passed away at 2:45 p.m., a week ao today, Wednesday, January 14, 1976, at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 17. The body laid in state at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home Friday afternoon and evening, with services being held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee. The Rev. Douglas R. Groenewald officiated, with burial being at Riverside Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Larry Stigen, James Ewer, Ed Kalo, Gerry Buss, Ted Widmer and Vernon Wagner.

Mrs. Stigen, 79, the former Amelia Widmer, was born April 9, 1905 in Milwaukee and later attended Sterling State Grade School, near Thorp. On June 18, 1924 she and the late Frank Stigen were married at Withee, and since that time had made their home on a farm in the Town of Withee. Mr. Stigen died January 26, 1975.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee.

Mourning her loss are a son, Gene, rural Withee; two brothers, Fred Widmer, Withee, and John Widmer, Milwaukee, and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and a sister.
