Berg, Karleen Marie (12 September 1950 - 7 April 2023)
Karleen Marie Berg passed away at the age of 72 on Friday, April 7, 2023.
She was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin on to the late Bernard and Irene Staab.
Karleen married Thomas Berg on June 29, 1973 at St. Louis Catholic Church in
Dorchester, and was blessed with two children and three grandchildren.
As an Army wife, Karleen was the anchor of a family that relocated often —
including stops in South Korea, Germany, New Mexico, Virginia, Minnesota, Iowa,
Oklahoma and Colorado — because of her husband’s various military stations. Her
can-do attitude helped the family thrive even without a true home base until
moving to Neenah, Wisconsin in 1994. She worked as a registered nurse for many
years and was an operating room nurse at Theda Clark Medical Center for the
final 18 years of her career, retiring in 2012.
Late in her career, Karleen shifted to information technology and used her
clinical experience to help implement electronic medical record software at
ThedaCare. She enjoyed being a problem solver and was generous with her time,
especially if her family or friends needed help. She was an avid knitter who
enjoyed using her skills for charities supporting vulnerable families and
children. Karleen was a beloved mother and grandmother. Her grandchildren
consider her a hero for being an organ donor. Karleen, a dedicated University of
Wisconsin sports fan, was transported to the organ donation clinic in a Badger
helicopter. She treasured her time with family and friends, and she was very
proud of them all.
Karleen is survived by her children, Matthew (Jennifer) Berg and Kristine
(Anthony) Giornalista; grandchildren, Eleanor, Owen and Clara Berg; siblings,
Mary Ann (Gary) Will, John (Carol) Staab and Jane (Rich) Bahr; along with many
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Thomas Berg; parents, Bernard and Irene Staab; and parents-in-law,
Melvin and Eleanor Berg.
The funeral mass for Karleen will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at St.
Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 830 S. Westhaven Drive, Oshkosh,
Wisconsin. Karleen will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery (Gate of Heaven
Cemetery) in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

GREENWOOD - 1983 was another successful year for the Clark County Fair.
Income, however, didn't meet expenses and crowded conditions continued to be a
problem as expanded facilities were filled with larger numbers of fair exhibits.
Don Marg, fair secretary, said at the fair association's recent annual meeting
that the fair had receipts of $37,975 for 1983 with expenditures of $38,611. A
cash balance from 1982 kept the operation in the black.
Most of the discussion concerned the 4-H horse program. Crowded conditions were
cited as the biggest problem.
Three directors were re-elected to the board of directors: Thurman Craig,
Willard; Maryanne Olson, Loyal; and Don Newman, Unity. Francis Steiner, Granton
was recognized for serving 25 years on the board.
Bud Smith, Loyal , was re-elected board president; Steiner, vice-president;
Marg, secretary; and Pat Strangfeld, Neillsville. Other board members include
Gen Petranovich, Thorp, and Gene Artz, Loyal.
