CLARION (Dorchester, Clark Co, WI) 08/19/1927 Doering, Esther
(15 Augl 1927) A wedding of great
local interest took place at Athens Monday at 12 noon when Miss
Esther Doering, a popular Athens young lady, was united in marriage
to Herbert Nixdorf, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Al Nixdorf of
Dorchester, Clark County, Wis. The ceremony was celebrated at the
Trinity Lutheran Church at Athens, Rev. Pichler officiating. The bride looked
like a fairy in her beautiful white satin faced canton crepe gown
and the lovely veil with its train and a dainty shower bouquet of
roses and lilies of the valley. Her lady attendants, Eleanora
Nixdorf and Alice Lehman wore gowns of peach and green georgette
respectively and carried the shower bouquets same as the bride. The
groom was dressed in the conventional blue and his attendants were
Walter Doering, brother of the bride, and Ed Nixdorf, the
groom's brother, Fred Neidhold acted as usher. After the ceremony
a lovely dinner was served at the home of the bride's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Doering. The house was a bower of loveliness
in gay streamers and other decorations of white, green and pink.
Some girl friends of the bride helped to serve the dainty dinner to
the assembled guests and everyone had a merry afternoon. About five
o'clock the bridal couple left for Chicago, and will also
visit southern Wisconsin cities, expecting to be gone a week or so.
They expect to be at home to their many friends at Athens about
Sept. 1st. Herbert is well
known to most of our readers as he was born and raised in
Dorchester country, went to school here and when he decided to be a
barber, worked at the Vircks Barber Shop and was well liked.
Everyone is delighted at his good fortune, for though the bride is
little known here, we can bet on "Nixy" to pick a winner. He is an
energetic young man and has made good since going into business for
himself at Athens. As we said, we know little of the bride, but
we've been told she's as popular among her Athens
friends as Herb is her, and we join with a host of friends in
offering our very best wishes and many success attend them along
life's way. Those who were
there were Mr. and Mrs. Al Nixdorf, Elna and Clarence, of
Dorchester, parents, sister and brother of the groom, another
sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Harder of Stetsonville,
Eleanora Nixdorf and Fred Neidhold of Chicago, Mrs. Rachow, Herman
and Ed of Wausau and the Lehman family, and a few other Athens
friends. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
