Tompkins, Lois M. (10 Feb 1923 - 31 Jan 2005)
Lois Mae Tompkins, 81, Osseo, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, at South Beef River Lutheran Church, rural Osseo. The Rev. Greg Ofsdahl officiated. Burial was in Osseo Cemetery.
Lois Mae Tompkins was born Feb. 10, 1923, to Dale and Lillian (nee Kurzheim) Hawley. She married Nyle Tompkins on Oct. 2, 1942, in Lancaster, Mo. She worked at Osseo Area Hospital & nursing Home, was an Avon representative and volunteered in the hospital gift shop. She enjoyed painting, flowers, watching birds, crocheting and playing the organ.
Survivors include her children, Donna (Dale) Vine, Granton, Tom (Bonnie) Tompkins, Fairchild, Jerry Tompkins, Great Fall, Mont., David (Sharyn) Tompkins, Osseo, Randy Tompkins, Waukesha, Kenny (Jane) Tompkins, Eau Claire, Vicky (Victor) Piel, Eau Claire, Steve Tompkins, Osseo, and Debbie (Dave Stensen) Tompkins, Osseo; two sisters, Dawn Scheller, Loyal, Doreen Newhouse, Menasha; two brothers, Tom Hawley, Green Bay, Dale (Karen) Hawley, Neenah; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Dale Gjestvang.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Nyle; a daughter, Gay Vold; four grandchildren, Gary Roehl, Duane Lauterbach, Kathy Tompkins and Luke Vold; three brothers, Jack Hawley, Roger Hawley and Jim Hawley; and two sisters, Sue Rudy and June Matowitz.
Schiefelbein Funeral Home, Osseo, assisted the family with arrangements.
