Graham, Roy C. (17 APR 1887 - 10 Feb 1962)
Owen, Clark County, Wis. - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home for Roy C. Graham, 74, former postmaster and civic leader, who died of complications Saturday. The Rev. Ralph D. Claybaugh, pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate and burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery in Withee.
The body is reposing at Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home.
Mr. Graham was born April 17, 1887 in Eau Claire, and was married there to the former Josephine Haas who died Feb. 2, 1946. He served 2 ½ years during World War I as a commissioned officer in the 32nd Infantry Regiment. In 1919 he came to Owen and operated an electrical contracting business.
From 1923 until 1935 he was a member of the Clark County Board of Supervisors, and during the same period he served as justice of the peace. He managed the city water system for several years, served as library president and completed two terms as commander of the Owen American Legion Post. He was the Legion's service officer for 25 years.
In 1935 he was appointed tot he office of postmaster. He served the community for 22 years, retiring in May of 1957. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. L. H. (Doris) LeGault, Mound, Minn., and Mrs. G. T. (Lorraine) O'Brien, New York, N.Y.; a son, Douglas Graham, Joliet, Ill.; nine grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Hazel Kuhl, Stevens Point.
