Schumacher, William (5 Apr 1865 - 6 NOV 1950)

Colby, Wis. - William Schumacher, 85, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Becker, route 2, Colby, at 11:30 p.m. Monday night. Death was attributed to complications of old age.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester, Clark County, with the Very Rev. Michael J. Kelnhofer officiating. Burial will be made in the Dorchester Cemetery.

Mr. Schumacher was born April 5, 1865 in Belgium. He came to the United States at the age of 12 and lived for a time at Appleton and Marshfield. After his marriage, Nov. 22, 1893, to Elizabeth Decker at Mackville, they moved to Kimberly where they lived seven years. They then moved to a farm near Dorchester where they farmed until 1925, when they moved to the village of Dorchester.

Mrs. Schumacher preceded her husband in death in Jan. 1946. Mr. Schumacher had been living with his daughter for the past three years.

Surviving are the following children: Peter and Nick, Dorchester; George, Sheboygan; Mrs. Jake (Elizabeth) Boxrucker, Stetsonville; Mrs. Stephen (Anna) Krupka, Milladore; Sister M. Celine, Viterbo College, La Crosse; Mrs. Aaron (Josephine) Gelhaus, Medford; Mrs. Archie (Genevieve) Leichtnam, Plymouth; and Mrs. Wilbur (Margaret) Becker, Colby; 31 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother, Hubert, and a sister, Anna, still in Belgium.

Three sons, Frank, William and John, preceded him in death.
