(21 Sep 1834 - 15 Apr 1901) Mrs. Bursell,
formerly Mary A. Crowe, was born at Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, Sept.
21st, 1834, the third child in a family of nine. In the fall of
1850, she came with her parents to Fond du Lac Co., Wis. In 1855
they moved to Oasis, Waushara Co., and in 1862 she was united in
marriage to James E. Bursell of that place. Thirteen years later
they came to Dorchester, Clark County, Wis., where she resided
continuously till her death on April 15th, 1901. She was preceded
by her husband who died Dec. 9, 1895. They had four children: Eva.
Henry E. Dunn W., and another child who died when very young, Dunn
W., is the only one still living and is conducting a large
Furniture and Undertaking establishment in this village. Miss Eva
married James Lock and resided at Phillips. She and her entire
family were drowned in the lake there while trying to escape from
the terrible Phillips fire on July 27th, 1894. Henry E. died April
5th, 1897, of Lung fever. Services were held
at the residence at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Dix of Abbotsford
officiating, and the next morning the remains were taken to Almond,
Portage Co. where the funeral was held, and the remains interred
beside her husband and son, Henry. Her brother, R. R.
Crowe, editor of the Local at Winneconne, Wis., was present at the
