DORCHESTER REPORTER (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) 08/09/1901 Linjohn, Carl
(1850? - 4 Augl 1901) Carl Linjohn, a
deaf and dumb person, aged 51 years, was instantly killed last
Sunday afternoon by passenger train No. 2, about one and one-half
miles this side of Curtiss, Clark County. Carl was carrying a gun
with him and was walking towards Abbotsford when No. 2 came along
and struck him. The engineer blew the whistle several times to warn
the man of his danger and supposed that he would leave the track.
On the train came and as Carl did not get off the track, the
engineer reversed the lever but could not stop the train until it
had passed over him. His head was crushed and his neck and both
legs were badly broken. The corpse was put on the train and taken
to Abbotsford, where an inquest was held. Carl Cluve, his
brother-in-law then took the remains home. He was buried Monday
afternoon in the Lutheran Cemetery at Green Grove. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
