OCT 1863 - 3 OCT 1901) Died, Mrs. Mary
Gelhaus, at her home southeast of Dorchester, Clark Co., Wis., of
Typhoid Pneumonia, at the age of 37 years, 11 months and 18 days.
Mrs. Gelhaus was only ill about three weeks and her death was a
sudden shock to the people in this vicinity. Mrs. Mary Gelhaus
nee Clause, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Clause, and was
born in Germany on Oct. 15, 1863. When eight years old her parents
emigrated to the United States, temporarily locating at New York
and then at Milwaukee. Three years after coming to this country
they moved to the town of Holeton and located on the farm where
they now live. Here she received a common school education and in
1879 was united in marriage to Aug. Gelhaus. Their union was
blessed by four children, two boys and two girls, all of whom are
living. The funeral
services were held Saturday at the St. Louis Church, Rev. Aug.
Birsner officiating. Besides a husband and four children to mourn
her loss she leaves an aged mother, Mrs. Demmer, and Aunt, Mrs.
