DORCHESTER REPORTER (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) 12/13/1901 Nelson, Isaac (? -
7 Dec 1901) Abbotsford, Dec.
7, 1901 - Isaac Nelson, one of our old and highly respected
citizens, committed suicide about 8 o'clock this morning at
his home on the east side. The first report of his death was not
believed as it was only about an hour before that he had been seen
on the street, apparently enjoying the best of health. His children found
the body laying on the floor of the kitchen bedroom. They
immediately ran to the home of their grandmother, Mrs. Scheller,
where they were visiting and told their mother who was also
visiting there. At the inquest it
was shown that he had taken his own life with a 38-55 Marlin rifle,
having shot at himself three times but only two of the shots took
effect, the last proving fatal. It entered the back of his head and
came out the side. The funeral
services were held Monday afternoon at the Chapel, Rev. Knutson
officiating. Interment took place at the Colby Cemetery. A very
long concourse of friends witnessed the last sad rites. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
