Embke, Sharon (Concert Choir - 1984)

Pillsbury Baptist Bible College, Owatonna, Minnesota—Sharon Embke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Embke, Rt. 1 Neillsville, will tour with the Pillsbury Concert Choir from March 21 through April 1. Sharon, an alto, joins 40 others for concerts scheduled in Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Kingsbury, Barbara (Young Careerist - 1984)

Barbara Kingsbury was selected as winner in a three-way Young Careerist speaking contest held on the evening of March 13 at a meeting of the Neillsville Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Kingsbury will move on to district competition in April. Other contestants were Darla Harder and Sue Beyer. The event was coordinated by BPW member Donna Erickson. Also at the meeting was Dr. Ana Capati, who spike on new developments at the Neillsville Clinic and Memorial Hospital.

Montag, Annie (95th - 1984)

Annie Montag observed her 95th birthday on March 17 at a party held at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stiffen, Chili.

Attending the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. Victor Montag, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Montag, Idora Fenke, and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Montag, all of Chili. Craig Montag, Augusta; Jeannine Hildebrant, Menasha; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Calhoun, Stevens Point; and Mr. and Mrs. Jayme Lingnofsky, Neenah.

Mrs. Montag received more than 100 greeting cards and many gifts.

Hediger, Erika Johanna (10 March 1984)

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville was the site of the Saturday afternoon, March 19, wedding of Erika Johanna Hediger and Timothy Joe Kurasz, both of Eau Claire. The parents of the couple are Charlotte Hediger-Schneider, Herman Hediger, Jr., and Mrs. Joe Kurasz, all of Neillsville.

The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated at the service. Music was offered by Paul and Elizabeth Tess.

Serving as maid of honor was Janice Wagner of Eau Claire. She was joined by Dawn Bohman of Marshfield and Kathy Hartkemeyer of Eau Claire. All are friends of the bride. Bestman was Jim Sekola of Bloomer. He was joined by Lindsay Taliaferro of Oxford, Ohio, and Mike Senn of Eau Claire. All are friends of the groom. Ushering were the groom’s brothers, Tom of Milwaukee and Stan of Morrison, Illinois. Ringbearer was Adam Emerich, the groom’s nephew of Marathon City; while the flowergirl was Tiffanee Montgomery, the bride’s niece of Granton.

The bride chose an organza, cathedral-trained gown accented with Chantilly lace at the skirt line and a Victorian-style bodice. Her long, sheer organza sleeves were cuffed with lace and ribbon accents. She wore a waltz-length veil which was trimmed with re-embroidered lace and see pearls and she carried a bouquet of white roses, burgundy tiger lilies and other flowers in pink. Her attendants wore matching Victorian-style gowns in burgundy. Besides a white rose in their hair, the attendants carried fans of flowers similar to the bride’s bouquet. The groom and his attendants were attired in tailed gray tuxedos.

Following the service, a reception was held at St. John’s Lutheran School and advance was held at the Neillsville American Legion Hall. The couple announced summer wedding trip plans.

Prenuptial events included a shower hosted by Janice Wagner and Kathy Hartkemeyer.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Kurasz will make their home in Eau Claire. She is a 1982 graduate of Neillsville High School and is presently a student at District I Tech-Eau Claire. He is a 1978 graduate of the same school and is presently a student at UW-Eau Claire. He is self-employed.
