Jennings, George David (31 May 1939 - 14 Feb. 2004)

CONOVER - George David Jennings, 64, of Conover entered heaven's gate on Feb. 14, 2004.

Born May 31, 1939, in Chili, he was the son of Roy C. and Annabell Jennings.

He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps after high school and met his lovely wife, Ella Lou Bentley, who preceded him in death, along with their daughter, Tina May Jennings.

Survivors include two sons, Roy Charles Jennings and wife, Karen Lane Jennings, of Conover; and Luke David Jennings of Hickory; three grandchildren, Keith Alan Jennings, Joshua Ryan Jennings and Hayden Ross Jennings, all of Conover; three sisters, Mary Crum of Denver, Colo., Esther Veltus of Marinette and Alice Kirk of Granton; and three brothers, Arthur Jennings of Oak Creek, Kenneth Jennings of Neillsville, and Howard Jennings of Chili.

George was one of the most unforgettable and enjoyable people you could ever meet. Even through his two-year bout with cancer, he always had a smile and laugh that would leave a lasting impression.

The Celebration of Life service was held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Hickory Church of Christ on Fairgrove Church Road. The family received friends at 7 p.m. immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
