Bowen, Sophia (21 April 1850 - 14* Feb. 1933) * Could be off

Mrs. Sophia Bowen, mother of Mrs. R. M. Horswill of this city, died at the Horswill home Tuesday night at 7:20 o'clock, after an illness of five weeks. Mrs. Bowen, nee Sophia Lang, was born April 21, 1850, at Mecklenburg, Germany, and came to America with her parents when a small child. The family settled at Columbus, Wis.

On Feb. 7, 1869, Miss Lang was married to Edward Bowen, seven children being born to them, two of whom, George and Myron, are deceased. Those who survive are John, Mrs. May Falk of Londsford, N. D.; Ed. Bowen of Longwood, Mrs. Edna Mead of Thorp and Mrs. Libbie Horswill of this city. She also was a grandmother to 22 children and great-grandmother to 18 children.

Mrs. Bowen's interests through life were centered in her home and family and the thoughtful consideration of those in distress. She was splendid type of mother and merited the high regard of all those with whom she came in contact.

The funeral services were held this morning (Wednesday) at 8:30 a.m. at the Horswill home with Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiating. Immediately after the rites the body was taken to Columbus for burial beside her husband, whose death occurred 20 years ago.
