Otto, Johanna (*1877 - 17 May 1933) * Could be off

On Wednesday, May 17, Mrs. R. E. Schmedel was called to Watertown, Wis., by the news of the sudden and unexpected death of her mother, Mrs. Carl Otto, aged 55.

Mrs. Otto had been an occasional visitor here and has acquired a number of friends through these visits at the home of her daughter.

The following data are gleaned from the columns of the Watertown Daily Times on May 18:

Mrs. Otto, whose maiden name was Johanna Bender, was born at Helenville, Wis. At an early age she moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bender, to Jefferson. Later they moved to Watertown.

Thirty-five years ago she was married to Carl F. Otto, and for many years they carried on a popular restaurant known as the Otto Inn. Here she obtained a wide acquaintance, and her personal popularity was very helpful in building up an extensive business.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. Roy Schmedel, of Neillsville, and Mrs. Lester G. Moser of Watertown; also three grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Church at Watertown, Rev. F. H. Eggers officiating.
