Schipper, Katie (23 Nov. 1879 - 1933)

Mrs. Schippe was born Nov. 23, 1879 at Manitowoc, the family name being Tomchek. In 1899 she was married to Frank A. Schipper at Manitowoc, two sons being born to this union, Edward A. and Reuben. About 20 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Schipper came to Clark County, locating at Owen where they lived five or six years. After moving to Abbotsford where they lived about six months the family came to Neillsville. About 14 years ago Mr. Schipper went to Milwaukee.

Mrs. Schipper was a splendid woman, like by everyone who knew her. She was a hard worker and an exceptionally fine cook, her services being constantly in demand. She was a quiet, even tempered disposition always having a pleasant word for those whom she met, and eager to please the patrons of the shoppe where she was employed since its opening more than a year ago. When not on duty she spent her time in the little home on South State street which she thoroughly enjoyed. Last fall she installed a new furnace and other improvements to make it a modern dwelling place.

News of her death brought grief to the entire city whose sympathy is extended to the bereaved sons and their families.

Mrs. Schipper was a member of the Catholic church and a member of the Royal Neighbors. The funeral will take place at 9 a.m. Thursday, from St. Mary's church, Rev. Peter Weber conducting the services.
