Building operations have begun on the new creamery to be built at Warner’s corners on land bought from S. G. Haglund. Richard Einfeldt has the contract to do the carpenter work.
The following notes from "GREENWOOD HUB OF CLARK COUNTY WISCONSIN 1844-1934", (compiled by members of the Woman's Club and printed in April 1934. Reprinted in 1986 by Dan Branstiter) also seem to be referring to this same cheese factory:
" Mark B. Warner located at what is know as Warner's corners in 1871. The Warner home is the building on the southwest corner."
Additionallly, the 1880 plat map of Beaver Township notes a M. B. Warner at the corner of what now is Starks Road and Curley Creek Road in Section 8. In 1880, the road that has since been replaced by Curley Creek Road, went at an angle from Starks Road to the southwest connecting to what is now Mill Road. By 1893 the road was redirected and the plat map of that date shows the road as it is now, going straight south off Starks Road to Mill Road.
A further reference seems to be made in this old news article:
----Sources: Greenwood Gleaner, Jan. 8, 1920: "West Beaver--Wm Schorer moved to the cheese factory north of Warner's corner."
I have no record of any cheese factory north of that corner. The closest cheese factory that I know of was the one shown on the 1920 plat map just east of LaTart School. That would be two corner's away (to the southwest) from the location of the Mark B. Warner house of 1880. Maybe the two ends of that 1880's angle road together were called Warner's corners? That would make the plural on "corners" correct. However the cheese factory on the 1920 plat would still be south, not north of the corners. If you can add any clarity to the location and ownership of this factory, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
