BETTY SCHMEDEL CHRISTENSEN (14 OCT 1919 - 30 JUN 2003)

Betty Schmedel Christensen, age 83, passed away on June 30, 2003.

Betty was born on Oct. 14, 1919 in Watertown, the daughter of Roy and Lorraine (Otto) Schmedel. She was the granddaughter of Carl and Johanna Otto who owned Otto’s Inn (Watertown), which was nationally known for its outstanding German Cuisine.

At the age of eight, Betty moved to Neillsville with her parents, where her father ran the Carnation Milk Condensery for many years. Betty attended the University of Wisconsin and majored in voice and piano. She enjoyed her love of piano throughout her life. She was also an avid reader.

She married Robert Christensen on Dec. 7, 1940 and they raised their children in Wauwatosa. The family spent their summers on Alder Lake in Manitowish Waters. She was the mother of Roger (Sandy) Christensen, Kay (Jeffrey) Krans, and Candace (Daniel) Dennis. She was the grandmother of Robert (Nicole) Christensen, Roger Christensen, Jesse Christensen, Dawn (Marty) Marris, Heather Dennis, Elizabeth Krans, and Amy (David) Pastre. She was the great-grandmother of Kayla Christensen.

Preceding Betty in death were her parents, husband Robert, and her brother, William Schmedel.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday July 5, at the Manitowish Waters Community Presbyterian Church at 4 p.m. with Pastor Chips Paulsen officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Dr. Kate Lakeland Hospice would be appreciated.

Bolger Funeral and Cremation Services are serving the family.
