HUMBIRD -- Willard H. Stanley, 80, of W12490 E. Giloy Road, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, at his home.
Willard, son of Henry and Rose (Gerber) Stanley, was born December 2, 1921, in Humbird. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. He married Oviedga Larson on December 29, 1945, in Humbird. The couple lived all their married life in Humbird, where for 19 years he served as the Humbird Postmaster. Willard also raised strawberries for 20 years, and owned and operated Tru-Art Manufacturing out of his home. In Humbird, he was a life time member of the United Church of Christ, and member of the American Legion and North Branch Rod and Gun Club.
He is survived by his wife, Oviedga; son, Randy and Becky Stanley of Humbird; two grandsons, Jack and Carrie Stanley and Chad and Randi Stanley, all of Humbird, two great-grandchildren, Macaid Stanley and Elizabeth Stanley; brother, Dr. Gaylord Stanley of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and two sisters, Violet Schmitz of St. Paul, Minn., and Fern Ness of Altoona.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Humbird, with burial in the town of Mentor Cemetery.
Friends May call from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at Anderson Funeral Home in Augusta, and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
