Unity has been named as the site to house the new Anhydrous Ammonia Fertilizer
Storage Plant being built by Midland Co-op, Incorporated, Minneapolis.
Construction is scheduled to begin shortly.
Stephen Zillmer, manager of the Harmony Co-op in Colby, said the plant will be
owned and controlled by Midland and will serve nine area cooperatives.
Midland will build the plant on land leased from Harmony Co-op.
Zillmer said Unity was chosen because it is centrally located to the
cooperatives it will serve in Spencer, Thorp, Greenwood, Athens, Junction City,
Vesper, Wausau and Colby.
It will hire one full time employee when the plant opens this spring. Zillmer
said other part-time workers will be added as the need arises.
Midland also plans to put up a seed and chemical warehouse in the same location.
