Meihack, Esther (20 JUN 1899 - 11 Augl 1977)

Neillsville, Clark County, Wis. - Mrs. Alvin (Esther) Meihack, 78, of 410 West St., Neillsville, died Thursday at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe with the Rev. Ralph Stuebs officiating. Burial will be in the Neillsville Cemetery.

Friends May call from 3-9 p.m. Sunday and until 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, and at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the church.

The former Esther Poppe was born June 20, 1899 in the Town of Weston, Clark County and attended schools there and in Neillsville. She taught in the Neillsville area schools for eight years.

She was married to Alvin Meihack Sept. 25, 1928 in the Town of Weston. They farmed there until 1962 when they retired and moved to Neillsville.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband; and five sisters, Mrs. Ervin (Eva) Hemp, Mrs. Arno (Frances) Durst, Mrs. Leo (Clara) Hemp and Mrs. Julius (Henrietta) Hagedorn, all of the Neillsville area, and Mrs. Laverne (Sophie) Johnson of Mt. Horeb.

Meihack, Esther (20 June 1899 – 11 August 1977)

A native of the Town of Weston, Mrs. Alvin H. (Esther) Meihack, 78, of Neillsville, died Thursday, August 11, following a brief illness. Services were held Monday, at 1:30 p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe, with the Rev. Ralph Stuebs officiating. Burial was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas-Gesche Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Esther Meihack, daughter of the late Charles and Hulda Marg Poppe, was born June 20, 1899, in the Town of Weston and attended schools in the township and in Neillsville. After completing her formal education, she taught school in the Neillsville area for eight years. Her marriage to Alvin Meihack took place September 25, 1928, in the Town of Weston. The couple farmed there until 1962 when they retired and moved to Neillsville. Mrs. Meihack was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include five sisters, Mrs. Ervin (Eva) Hemp, Mrs. Arne (Frances) Durst and Mrs. Lee (Clara) Hemp, all of Neillsville, Mrs. Laverne (Sophie) Johnson of Mt. Horeb and Mrs. Julius (Henrietta) Hagedorn of Neillsville.
