Owen, Clark County, Wis. - William Hamus Van Winkle II, 62, of Withee, Clark County, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, with the Rev. Emil Hodnik, pastor of St. Bernard’s Catholic church, Abbotsford, officiating.
Friends May call at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home, Owen, after 6 p.m. today. Cremation will follow.
He was born Sept. 13, 1915 in Midland, N.J., and was married to Janice B. Crowley in May 1949. They later divorced. He moved to Wisconsin in 1945, working in Milwaukee until 1954, then moving to Dayton, Ohio.
In 1960 he came to Withee, purchasing Weinberger Roundup Tavern, operating it as Rip Van Winkle'’ Roundup until 1968.
Survivors include three sons, William Thomas Van Winkle III of Menomonie, James Van Winkle, River Falls, and Rory Van Winkle, Withee; a brother, James Van Winkle, Wychoff, N. J.; two sisters, Miss Fan Van Winkle of Wychoff and Miss Marian Van Winkle, Portland, Ore; four grandchildren
