Died, August Hoffman, at his home in this village (Dorchester, Clark County, Wis.), on Monday afternoon Nov. 17, 1902, aged 56 years, 4 months and 21 days.

The deceased was born in Schlazing, Germany, June 26, 1845 and lived there about 36 years. He served his country as a private in the army for three years and in ’70-’71 during the conflict between Germany and France he took part in several fierce battles. At the expiration of his term of service he returned home and was united in marriage to Miss Dorothea Mallmann, also a native of Schlazing. In 1882 he came to America and located at St. Paul, where he lived for a period of six months, after which he moved to this village where he has since resided. He has been engaged extensively in farming but about a year ago was compelled to give it up owing to his failing health. Since that time he has been confined to the house and a sufferer from a cancer in his stomach that caused his death. He is survived by a widow, two children; Lizzie and Wm. Hoffman of this place, and a brother living in Germany. The funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Herrmann officiating.
