DORCHESTER REPORTER (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) 06 Dec 1903 Will, Herman W. (7
DEC 1843 - 7 Dec 1903) Died, Herman W.
Will, Sunday evening of heart failure, at the age of 49 years, 6
months. The details
relating to the death of Mr. Will are very extraordinary. He was
driving along the road with his wife when two cyclists came up from
behind. He turned partly out of the road to let them pass and one,
a lady, just got past the horse when she lost control of her wheel
and fell. Mr. Will, with some difficulty, stopped the horse from
passing over her and for the next mile the horse became more
frightened and almost unmanageable until finally it began kicking
and got one of its legs over the thills. Mr. Will got out and with
the assistance of Fred Warner loosed the horse from the buggy and
got everything in good shape again to proceed. Handing the reins to
his wife he started to get into the buggy when he suddenly and
without a word of warning sank to the ground - dead. The funeral
services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home and at the
Evangelical Church in this village (Dorchester, Clark County,
Wis.), Rev. J. Schneller of Marshfield, officiating. Mr. Will was born
in Riesenburg, West Prussia on Dec. 7th, 1843. On Nov. 18th, 1866,
he was united in marriage to Eva R. (Rosa) Timm at Mariaen Werder, a
village near his native home. In 1873 he came to Greenfield,
Milwaukee Co., and two years later he moved to the town of Little
Black, Taylor Co., where he lived until his death. He leaves to
mourn his loss a wife and six children, three daughters and three
sons, and nine grandchildren. He was popular, well known and highly
respected by all who knew him. We join with the many in
sympathizing with the bereaved family. *Herman W. Will is buried in
the Dorchester Memorial
Cemetery.
