The Veterans Memorial Committee continues to move forward with plans for the construction of the Thorp Veterans Remembrance Park at the corner of S Adams and W Hill Streets.

Considering delays in the supply chain and anticipated cost increases, the Committee placed orders in December. Committee members are actively seeking donations and purchases for flagpoles, benches and legacy stones.

Legacy stones and benches can now be purchased for placement in the Thorp Veterans Remembrance Park. The cost is $500 for an engraved legacy stone and $5,000 for an engraved bench. Five of ten benches have already been purchased.

Corporate, family and individual donors are needed to support the building of this memorial. The committee was approached by a corporate donor about the possibility of sponsoring one of the five tablets planned for the listing of area deceased veterans. The decision was made to allow names of donors to be printed across the top of the tablet, if the donation is $25,000 or more.

Checks payable to the American Legion Post 118 with Remembrance Park written on the Memo or For line can be mailed to: TAL Post 118, P.O. Box 421, Thorp, WI 54771.
